Chris Broussard: “I think this is an incredibly close race. Obviously the Suns are running away with the best record, but people are struggling to figure out who’s team that is. For the past few months I’ve been riding with Joel Embiid as my pick, but recently, Giannis Antetokounmpo has taken the top spot in my MVP voting race. Now, Embiid and Giannis’ numbers are pretty much identical, but Giannis’ performance these last two games, arguably the biggest games of the season for the Bucks, he came up big. He averaged 42-14-6, on 66% shooting, and made the game winning plays. For now, It’s Giannis over Embiid for me.”
Rob Parker: “I think your angst over these two will probably be for not. I think it will ultimately go to Nikola Jokic. You already mentioned his PER (player efficiency rating) is the highest in NBA history. Analytics are a huge factor in these voting races nowadays. I still like Embiid having a legit shot at winning it, there might be Giannis fatigue from the younger NBA writers, and analytics have taken over.”

The Odd Couple’s Chris Broussard and Rob Parker debate the current state of the MVP race in the NBA. Chris believes that Bucks F Giannis Antetokounmpo has overtaken 76ers C Joel Embiid. However, Rob believes the writers will ultimately pick Nuggets C Nikola Jokic. Listen to the full segment above!
