Warriors GM Bob Myers on Steph Curry's lukewarm praise as an all-time great: "I don't (get it) either. This guy is a made-man. Forget about this Final, it's already been done, he's already done it. He's already proven it. I don't know what else he has to continue to prove. That stat, I read that, it's tremendous. But why is that eye-opening? Why can't that just be 'oh yeah, he is as good as those guys.' It's almost 'oh my gosh I didn't know Steph averaged those kinds of numbers.' Then what are you watching? What are you looking at? He's been doing it, this is his sixth Finals in eight years. Have we not watched him? Have we not watched him over the regular season? IÂ don't know if it's envy, I don't know what it is about him that causes people to fail to recognize what he's doing out there, or reluctantly praise him."
Rob Parker: âWhen you talk about all-time greatness people are going to nitpick at your resume. All these times in the Finals yet you havenât won a Finals MVP, and you havenât had these moments where youâve knocked down a big shot. Itâs more than one thing. Sure he has put up numbers but if there was a signature moment in the Finals where Steph knocks down a big three and they win the game or a win a championship on that shot it would be different. We donât have a signature shot in the Finals, we donât have a Finals MVP, and we saw in Game 1 where he went 'Casper the Friendly Ghost' in the last six minutes of a team loss, so weâve seen those moments. Thatâs why everybody is not in lockstep over Steph Curry. It doesnât mean they donât respect his ability or his talent, but he doesnât have that âmomentâ and thatâs what people look for. Theyâre looking for the Michael Jordan shrug of the shoulders [1992 NBA Finals], or some big shot where you go âOMG that gave me goosebumps!â or âdid you see that shot to win the game??â We havenât seen it. I donât get why people act like Steph has done everything, NO HE HASNâT. He hasnât given us those memories yet and thatâs what people want and are trying to get. Heâs incomplete because he hasnât given us those moments yet. I think itâs fair to say that Steph is not there yet because we donât have any of those. I donât think everyone believes that heâs a top 10 player, or that heâs better than Magic Johnson.â (Full Segment Above)
